Fair Test

A check on testing a harsh prediction with a small, observable action.

About this test

Beck's cognitive model links a situation, an automatic thought, a feeling, and a behavior. A thought record and a behavioral experiment are ways of testing the thought instead of obeying it. These items score whether you caught the link or set a fair test. They teach the skill. They do not diagnose depression or anxiety, which have their own reflection tests on this site.

What this test asks
  1. You want to test the thought, "If I ask a question, they will mock me." What do you write before you act?

  3. You want the result to teach you something. What should you hold still?
  4. Last time you asked a question and also apologized six times. Why does that muddy the test?
  5. You speak up, and nobody mocks you. The thought is not fully gone. What update fits?
  6. You speak up, and one person looks distracted. What is a balanced reading?

  8. Someone says experiments mean you should just think positive. What is the correction?
  9. The thought says, "Do not start until you feel ready." What behavior tests it?
  10. How long should this kind of test usually run?
  11. What belongs in the results line?
