Evidence Check

Thoughts can sound true because they are loud and familiar. An evidence check is a CBT exercise in weighing facts, then writing a balanced statement you can use.

Write one thought that has been steering you, in a single sentence. If it uses always or never, leave those words in for now.

List two pieces of evidence that seem to support the thought. Stay with events you could point to, not insults.

List three pieces of evidence the thought leaves out, including times you coped, repaired, or were treated fairly.

Circle words like always, never, or everyone. Rewrite the thought without those words, and notice what remains.

Write a sentence that holds both sides. Name one behavior this week that would match that sentence.
