Kinder Voice

A kinder voice is a practice, and you do not need to feel kind before you write the words. You will catch one attack and answer it in language you could say out loud to someone you respect.

Write the exact inner line from the last day or two. Do not soften it yet, and do not add a speech about why you should not have it.

Imagine a friend said this about themselves after a similar moment. Write the reply you would actually give, in two or three sentences.

Note what still matters to you, such as honesty, care, or effort, so kindness does not become a free pass to skip a repair.

Condense the reply into one sentence you can remember. Make it specific to the situation, not a poster slogan.

Choose a moment you are likely to hear the attack again. Write when you will repeat your line and what you will do next.
