Repair Attempt

A repair attempt is a relationship skill for coming back after harm, and it does not erase what happened. Write yours in plain words the other person can understand without a debate.

State the event in facts, including your part. Leave out a theory about their character.

Write how you think your action landed. Add a question that invites them to correct you if you missed something.

Draft two sentences that name what you did and what you will do differently. Then cross out any excuse that tries to lead.

Write one question that gives them a choice about when to talk, and a time you will offer if they want you to suggest one.

Name the behavior you will repeat this week so the repair is not only words. Make it visible and small enough to do.
